SIDE WITH STAFF

We are 12,000 researchers, educators, and public servants organized in RPSP-UAW and SSAP-UAW. We are bargaining with UC management for strong first contracts necessary to retain a diverse workforce to continue delivering world-class research and education.

As Trump threatens higher education, UC management seems paralyzed. But right now they have an opportunity to side with staff by agreeing to a contract that:

  • Guarantees wage growth so that staff can afford to live in the communities they serve

  • Ensures career progression aligns with increased responsibility and workload

  • Retains talented staff by prioritizing excellence over inflexible in-office requirements

  • Strengthens job security

Right now, thousands of SSAPs and RPSPs are uniting to make sure management understands our value. It’s going to take each of us demonstrating our unity to make serious progress at the bargaining table. Take the first step below:

ULP Strike Authorization VOTE

Following the unfair labor practice (ULP) charges filed against UC management, SSAPs and RPSPs were able to win agreements that institute enforceable protections against discrimination, harassment, abusive, conduct, and retaliation. However, UC management’s bad faith bargaining remains an obstacle to making progress on many priorities for our first contract. It is clear that the only way to get UC to honor their obligation to bargain in good faith is to continue escalating. To that end, in response to management’s unlawful behavior, the bargaining teams are calling for SSAPs and RPSPs to hold a ULP Strike Authorization Vote (SAV) starting on Thursday, February 5.

To make sure our SAV is successful and powerful, it’s important that all RPSPs and SSAPs do our part to win the contract we deserve and to pressure UC to stop standing in the way of a strong, fair contract by committing ULPs.
